Street Store

“they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.” Galatians 2:10

The next Street Store will be held in St Georges Park on Saturday 23 June 2018

Our city is full of people. Each person bears the image of God and is love by him. Those with much have been commanded to care for those with less. This is not a burden but a joy. Jesus tells us that what we do for “the least” we effectively do for him.

Street store has been run in Port Elizabeth for the past three years it is a partnership between City Lights Church, Covenant Grace Church and Love Story that loves and serves those who have less. Volunteers collect and sort clothes and offer them free of charge and with dignity to people who might want them.

Anyone can get involved in Street Store one or all of three ways.

To donate clothes. These are going to men and women many of whom are mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers. We ask that you give of your best. Good used clothes are very welcome. If you have larger sizes please consider purchasing smaller sizes to donate. If you can pack them in bags labeled for Ladies, Gents, Children and Infants that will help the next part of the process.

Generally a couple of weeks before the street store a group of volunteers gather to sort all the donated clothes into Ladies, Gents, Children and Infants.

Volunteers arrive at 8.00am to set up the Street Store and then they take various places in the operation to ensure friendly engagement with our customers and the smooth running of the morning.
